MEET VALERIE NOBLIN
Master of Education in Counseling Psychology, Reiki Master, and Certified Flower Essence Specialist, EFT Practitioner and Advocate of Holistic Nutrition
Motivated by personal tragedy, the focus of my graduate studies became understanding the process of healing inherent within bereavement counseling that impacted African Americans. This led me to choose my practicum experience with the Crime Victim’s Assistance Program in DC where I specifically provided grief counseling for survivors of homicide victims. After earning a Bachelor's in Psychology from Norfolk State University and a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Howard University, I obtained my license as a Professional Counselor in 1997 and have been working in the DC area for over two decades.
My post-master’s career experience provided me with invaluable skills to empathically “hold space” to assist clients in confronting maladaptive patterns, while also exemplifying the knowledge and courage necessary to elevate themselves. I have obtained numerous certifications and trainings in both counseling theory and metaphysical concepts. I continue to participate in ongoing education to enhance my skills, and as a commitment to my own personal growth. Over the years, I have facilitated groups, workshops and seminars offering my unique approach to healing in grief and loss, mood disorders, and trauma. I founded Celebration of Life Healing Practice, LLC in 2004 to support my vision as an intuitive therapist, introducing holistic modalities such as Reiki to clinical mental health counseling.
My role as a therapist is to join, assist and guide individuals towards recognizing and addressing those lessons in their experiences. The goal is to create a reality that best supports their highest, most positive expression of self along their life's journey.
The wound is the place where the light enters you. ~Rumi
WHAT TO EXPECT
I believe that persons are more than arbitrary experiences, emotions, and thoughts. The more aware you are of the intrinsic power you possess; you begin to recognize how to reframe these effects, giving way to uncover opportunities for growth in even the most challenging situations.
